SGI has launched the Scholarship 2026 initiative to foster and accelerate students’ academic and personal growth. This effort represents a meaningful step toward strengthening the foundation of India’s future by nurturing its promising young minds.
General Terms
- Admissions to eligible scholarship candidates will be offered on a "first-come-first-served" basis.
- Admissions through scholarships will be considered up to 15% in CSE and its specializations, 30% for MBA and 20% in the rest of the programs on the sanctioned intake for all the programs, except for 100%, 75%, and 60% scholarship slabs and for the non-Telugu mother tongue students. The scholarship slabs of 100%, 75%, and 60% and admitted students from non-Telugu mother tongue don’t attain any scholarship waitlist.
- Once the earmarked limit is exhausted in a program through scholarships, the student will not be entitled to the scholarship despite qualifying for the scholarship. Exceptions will be made at the discretion of the "Management."
- The primary scholarship policy will be merit-driven and have need-based financial support. Merit scholarships up to 100% of the tuition fee are offered depending on merit. The additional need-based scholarships to the merit students are offered based on the combined annual income of both the parents/guardians of the eligible students.
- The scholarship slabs are 100%, 75%, 60%, 40%, 25%, and 15%.
- Apart from the above, the following scholarships are also offered to eligible students : i. Employee Children Scholarships (60%, 40%, and 20%) ii. Loyalty Scholarships (10% for alumni returning for higher studies, children of alumni, real or step siblings (not applicable to cousins), children of retired employees of GITAM, and spouses of GITAM employees) iii. Sports Scholarships (100%, 75%, 60%, 40%, 25%, and 15%) iv. All supporting documents for the above-mentioned scholarships must be uploaded in the counselling portal by July 31, 2026
- The merit, need-based, employee, and loyalty scholarships are not available to students who have failed or have backlogs from previous years, nor to those who have achieved the minimum CGPA through betterment in any given year. However, students who meet the minimum CGPA requirement through recounting are eligible for the scholarship.
Merit Scholarships
- For the scholarships offered through various National / State Entrance Tests, the students are encouraged to apply for the GITAM Admission Test (GAT) /GITAM Business Aptitude Test (GBAT) and attend the counseling for admission as per the schedule.
- Suppose a student is eligible for a scholarship under more than one category through GBAT/ GAT/ National / State Entrance Tests. In that case, they will be awarded the highest percentage of the scholarship among the eligible entrance tests.
- Renewal Criteria : The scholarship provided via GBAT/GAT or National/State Entrance Exams is valid only for the first academic year. To continue receiving the same scholarship in subsequent years, students must maintain a CGPA of 8.0 or higher. If a student's CGPA falls between 7.5 and 7.99, their scholarship will be reduced to the next lower category among the available slabs of 75%, 60%, 40%, 25% and 15%. However, this reduction does not apply to students who initially receive a 15% scholarship. The student will be eligible for the scholarship in the year in which they fulfil the scoring of the required CGPA in any subsequent year of study.
Need-Based Scholarships

The courses offered across campuses will be divided into two tiers,
Tier A : Tuition Fee ≥ 2.00 LPA
Tier B :Tuition Fee < 2.00 LPA - For the award of the need-based scholarship, the student must upload the tax documents of both parents/guardians, i.e., Acknowledgement of Income Tax Return for the respective financial year in the counselling portal before July 31, 2026. the closure of the admission cycle. Upon successful verification, their scholarship will be upgraded from 75% to 100%, 60% to 75%, 40% to 60%, 25% to 40% and 15% to 25%.
- Candidates admitted through merit scholarships in the slabs of 75%, 60%, 40%, 25%, and 15%, whose parents’/guardians’ combined income is within the prescribed limits, are eligible for an additional need-based scholarship.
Hostel Scholarships
- In addition, students awarded merit scholarships will receive an additional 20% scholarship specifically allocated for hostel fees (including food and Non-AC accommodation) at GITAM for merit scholarship slabs: 15%, 25%, 40%, and 60%.
- Students awarded 75% & 100% Merit scholarships are also awarded the same percentage in the hostel fees (including food and Non-AC accommodation).
- Suppose any student is eligible for the need-based scholarship and is unwilling to upload both parents/guardians tax documents in the counselling portal before July 31, 2026, in that case, they will not be eligible to be upgraded with the additional need-based scholarship.
- The need-based scholarship will be awarded to the eligible students upon filling out the need-based scholarship form in the counselling portal before the closure of the admission cycle July 31, 2026. Data will be evaluated for the need-based scholarships of eligible students.
- The need-based scholarships will only be applicable for 75%, 60%, 40%, 25%, and 15% of the slabs.
FAQs
How can I apply for the scholarship?
Students can apply for the scholarship in the admission portal during the counselling process based on the GAT 2024 or any national or state-level entrance test results.
Which documents am I required to submit while applying for a student scholarship?
Candidates need to provide the best score from the National/State level entrance test taken in 2024 or GAT 2024. The result copy can be uploaded in the application portal during the counseling period.
Does the financial aid extend beyond the first year at SGI?
The same financial aid/scholarship will be continued in the subsequent academic years if the student maintains a CGPA of 8.0 and above each year.
When is the last date to apply for a student scholarship?
Once the student receives communication from the University regarding his/her scholarship eligibility, candidates need to pay and complete the admission within 7 days to avail the scholarship. Any delays will result in the cancellation of the scholarship, and it will be passed on to the next eligible candidate in the queue, as scholarships are offered on a “first-come-first-served” basis.
